A typical treatment will average about 45 minutes. Larger yards may take longer to treat. Each treatment will generally be at optimal effectiveness for the first 4 weeks. It has been shown to be effective for up to 8 weeks however between the 4 to 6 week mark is generally when you may start noticing the insects making their return.
Mosquitoes do not usually harbour in the grass unless it is long and of the broad leafed variety. Biting Midge on the other hand will rest on the grass making your lawn a possible harbourage area. Your technician will do a pre treatment inspection to identify Mosquito and Midge conducive areas. The most common areas to find Mosquitoes and Biting Midge during the day include: the underside of the leaves of dense/shrubby plants, under decks and in damp shady areas of the property. We do recommend that you keep your grass short during the warmer season. In some cases such as special events like weddings and large outdoor parties, we will spray the grass where your guests will be. We may also spray the grass to if you’ve asked us to treat a flea problem.
No service can offer 100% protection from every mosquito and biting midge. As you might imagine, a mosquito or biting midge from a neighbouring property could wander into your yard and bite you before coming into contact or resting on treated foliage. However, you will find that the presence of mosquitoes and biting midge is enormously reduced. As well as fleas, ticks and spiders.
Our standard treatment primarily targets mosquitoes and biting midge, but is also effective at reducing the number of ticks and fleas in the yard. Webbing spiders and flies are also affected by the residual barrier spray. Our main barrier spray products use synthetic forms of pyrethrins called pyrethroids. Pyrethrins are the natural byproduct from flowers. Synthetic pyrethroids have a similar chemical structure as the pyrethrins, and has been developed for agricultural application for orchids and crop pests. The product itself water-based, mixed in water and will not harm plants. Once dry it is nontoxic to humans and animals however it can be toxic to some aquatic life such as fish in ponds or aquariums. Your technician is trained to avoid any area that may contain aquatic life.
No. As long as your gate is unlocked and your pets are inside, your technician can treat. When you book a service with us, we will ask you a number of questions regarding your property. This gives us an overview to provide a service that is convenient to you. If you would like to be home during the treatment that’s great, if not that’s totally ok as well. Our trained and licensed professionals will conduct the treatment and leave a calling card explaining what has been done, what time, comments and helpful hints that may help you keep your yard as uninviting as possible for mosquitoes, fleas and other pests. You will also receive a call or text to let you know your property has been completed.

No Mosquitoes focuses on outdoor mosquito control services. If mosquitoes and other bugs are coming in through open doors or windows, our outside treatments may reduce inside annoyances.
As long as your yard has had adequate time to dry after the application of your treatment (approx. 12-24 hours) rain should not impact the effectiveness of your service. However, if you are not completely satisfied with the effectiveness of our barrier treatment services, we will return to your yard to re-spray your property (within 14 days).
We do keep an eye on the weather at all times, so if heavy rain is predicted on the same day as your treatment, we will generally reschedule to a more suitable day.

We concentrate on a custom treatment for each individual situation where as local governments do a great job at carrying out large scale vector control programs. These programs focus efforts on tidal and rain influence known mosquito breeding areas by carrying out aerial and ground based larvaciding to a huge area. These treatments are highly effective at stopping a mosquito invasion after a king tide or large rain event by stopping the mosquito larva developing into a mosquito. The only 2 downsides to these treatments are that they usually only have a small window of time to complete the larvicidng. If this is slightly off target, millions of mosquitoes emerge to fly off looking for a blood meal. The second is, the Local Government cannot treat 100% of mosquito breeding areas, it’s not a downfall but just downright impossible if you think of the hundreds of thousands of hectares of possible breeding sites.
After a residual barrier treatment, you need to ensure that the product has completely dried before going outside. We recommend a minimum of 30 minutes. Once the product has completely dried, you and your family may safely enjoy the outdoor area.
Pyrethroids are hazardous to aquatic life. As a result, your technician is trained to avoid any area that may contain aquatic life when providing you with a residual barrier treatment. Your technician will also ensure that no chemical will contact pool water.
